On-Line Batch Process Control

Complete Optical Gauging System for On-line End Point Control.

Batch Process Controls

The optIcons® end point control system is beneficial in providing automatic control of a color batch processing application by automatically stopping a process at a predetermined end point. End point calculations may be based on color, optical thickness, brightness, concentration, absorption, fluorescence, and emission.

Custom fiber optic interfaces are used to integrate the system into processes which make it useful for in-line, mixing, dispensing, and automatic control of chemical additions, as well as mixing of slurries and ceramics. Color control of deep-dyed tissue and cellulose fiber can be simplified and controlled in real time. Bleaching of cotton, pulp, grain and rice is simplified.

Principal Operation

The system analyzes light energy returned from the process at specific wavelengths operating in reflectance, transmission or emission mode. The system employs special optical interfaces that are coupled to the measuring system by fiber optic light guides. Light guides facilitate intrinsically safe operation in harsh process environments.

End points may be determined empirically by measuring known process material or by simply installing the system and logging data simultaneously.
